With San Diego County’s expanded COVID-19 vaccine eligibility now open to everyone 16 and older, we’re sharing important information about the COVID-19 vaccine and an opportunity for no-appointment necessary vaccinations.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Beginning today, Tuesday, April 27, the county-operated COVID-19 vaccine site at Viejas Arena will offer no-appointment needed, walk-up vaccinations. The site is open 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. If you are not available during any of these days, appointments can be made online on the San Diego Health and Human Services Agency vaccine page.

  • Nationwide, on April 19, everyone 16 and older was made eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Across the country, county public health agencies and certain pharmacies continue to offer COVID-19 vaccinations at no charge. You can also use VaccineFinder to locate available vaccine appointments near you, no matter your location.

  • Last week the California State University and University of California systems announced that, pending full FDA approval, the COVID-19 vaccine will be required for students, staff and faculty for the fall 2021 semester. The joint system-wide announcement can be found on the CSU website.

The university’s dedicated COVID-19 website has additional information on the COVID-19 vaccine, including answers to a variety of frequently asked questions.

In California, 37% of all residents 16 and older are already fully vaccinated. San Diego County is inching close to that number. According to the San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency, nearly 35% of all eligible residents are fully vaccinated. Now, you can help add to these growing numbers and do your part to protect yourself and those around you.

Thank you to the many thousands of SDSU students, faculty, and staff who are already vaccinated!
