Dear SDSU Community,

We are pleased to share that the proposed strategic goals and activities for each of the five main priorities are now formally drafted.

The strategic plan consists of three elements: the priorities, the goals and the activities. We have had extensive discussions about each, and all are detailed in a preliminary report, which is currently under review by the University Senate and Associated Students. The report is available on the Reimagining the Future: A Strategic Plan for SDSU site, which has been updated. Also, the plan detailed in the report was endorsed unanimously by the 32-member Strategic Planning Committee, which broadly represents campus, to include academics units, auxiliaries, each division, Athletics and SDSU Imperial Valley.

We hope you will join us in acknowledging this moment, as it marks yet another significant milestone in the development of our new San Diego State University strategic plan. Also, we encourage all members of our community to read the preliminary report, which will be the foundational document for the university’s final strategic plan.

The more than 50 proposed activities, currently under review for approval, will drive our community’s primary work over the next five years.

Our current national and global environment strongly indicate that institutions of higher education must be creative, adaptable, fiscally responsive and socially responsible. Indeed, this has always been true, no matter the current state. Along with members of the Strategic Planning Steering Committee, we strongly believe that the proposed activities will position SDSU for a long-standing future of continued academic access and student success and expansion of our research mission, diversification of institutional funding and broad based community impact.

Thank you, again, to everyone who has been involved throughout this process.
