Dear SDSU Imperial Valley community,

We are pleased to announce that our university has joined in partnership with the Imperial County Public Health Department to host a county-operated COVID-19 site on our campus. This offering will serve as an important expansion to COVID-19 testing for both our campus community and our region.

As you are aware, SDSU has been working in close partnership with the San Diego Health & Human Services Agency (HHSA). Through this partnership, an HHSA-run test site is located on the San Diego campus. Our local partnership with the county is similar. Working with the Imperial County Public Health Department, public health officials will host a site located in the Calexico parking lot. SDSU Imperial Valley employees, students, and community members will be able to get tested every Friday beginning Jan. 8, and through April 30 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. More information about county testing locations is available online.

While the vaccine designed to help prevent COVID-19 has arrived in parts of our state, robust and regular testing programs remain critical. The availability of a COVID-19 test site on our campus supports our collaborative work with the Imperial County Public Health Department and our collective effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our regional community.

During the time the county hosts the COVID-19 testing site, we ask employees who are approved to come to campus to refrain from using the parking lot, and to use the south gate for entrance to campus. The gate will be closed but not locked; close the gate when you arrive or leave the campus.

We are proud of this partnership, and appreciate that it will provide a needed community resource. As a reminder to all members of our community, continue to take good care of yourselves and follow public health guidelines for your safety and the safety of others: wear a facial covering, maintain physical distance and wash your hands frequently. Every action counts to help ensure the safety and health of our community.
